Fay's Friends are assembling "comfort bags" for families of lung transplant patients. Our amazing nurse, Kristin, has agreed to be our stork and deliver these bags to the families. I would like to assemble 5 bags for boys and 5 for girls by April 27th. Why that day? That is Faybree's rebirth. What better way to celebrate her second chance at life than to share some of our blessings and knowledge with those who still need it. Although, we have met our first goal for April 27th, we would like to continue providing these comfort bags for more families, so donations are ALWAYS needed!  There are always families in need.  They need our support and we hope we can count on you in helping others.  We are so greatful for anything you may be able to contribute towards Fay's Friends!

Donate Comfort Bag Items

To donate items for our comfort bags, please refer to the list below.  We do our best to keep each bag consistent and have compiled a list and pictures of inclusion items contained in the bags, and items we need to continue our mission. Please note all items for Fay's Friends must be new.

Mask Holder: You will need masks everywhere you go post transplant.  Why not carry them in style?

Hand Mittens: This keeps your child from tugging on their wires and tubes.

Hats, snap shirt, socks, headbands and bows: Your bag will vary depending on whether you have a son or daughter.  You can’t put much on your child right now, but you can use these!  Hopefully, they will bring a smile to your face and deliver a Kodak moment.

Receiving and/or Flannel Blanket: Use these on their bed to give their room more personality.  Sure beats the hospital décor!

Burp Cloth: Great for feeding, wiping up spills and drooling.  They are washable.

Travel Laundry Bag: For all those items from your little one and you.  The hospital sure knows how to make you feel right at home by doing your own laundry.

Washcloths: The NICU provides paper washcloths.  Your baby deserves better!

Johnson & Johnson baby lotion: The NICU does not provide lotion. Your baby might have dry skin or want to feel fresh, so we provided some for you.

Gold Bond Hand Sanitizer: washing your hands and using foam keeps the germs away but dries your hands out. Gold Bond lotion does both, keeps them mosturized and sanitized at the same time.

Disinfectant Spray: again this is a great product for after transplant as you spray everything to get rid of germs for your little one. Especially during flu season.

Hygeine Kit: everyone needs to have great breath. There are many days you are at the hospital for hours on end. Nice way to freshen up.

Fresh Breath - Sleeping in a hospital chair for days on end can be tough.  A quick way to freshen up if you don't have your toothbrush. Slip this in your purse or pocket to have on hand

Lovie: Something for your baby to hold onto when you have to step away.

Decorative wipe case: Great for travel post-transplant.  When your child is no longer in diapers you can carry sanitizing wipes in this case.  (Use Sani-Hands for small children and Wet Ones for older kids.  Check the label for age restrictions.)  Currently there are regular Huggies wipes in case.

Wipes for surfaces: this will be something they will use so much after transplant. No matter where you go, you are always wipping something down.

Disposable Cameras: Because regardless of how scary this journey is, you should document the process and the moments of hope and happiness.

Gift Cards:  to Schnucks Grocery store (a local grocery store in St. Louis) of $25.00 to each family. VISA gift cards can also be used. * We also love Jimmy John's Subs - sure beats cafeteria food and they deliver to the hospital!

Travel Size Detergent: always needed as the hospital doesn't do your laundry. Any type of detergent is welcome.  The new Purex 3 in 1 might be a great NEW choice for these families.  Easy to travel with back and forth to the laundry as it is just a sheet, plus it has fabric softner on the sheet too-which is a bonus!

Travel Shampoo and Conditioner: Great to have on hand just in case you might have to spend the night at the hospital. (which happens alot)
